Welcome to the Neighborhood.
Hassalo on Eighth is an area reclaimed from parking lots to a vibrant, eco-friendly, 24-hour community: A place where people work, live, gather, and celebrate. Hassalo on Eighth is a central foundation of the Lloyd neighborhood, one of Portland's new Renaissance neighborhoods.
The name Hassalo on Eighth comes from the revival of Hassalo Street and Eighth Avenue, which were lost years ago. The reconnection of these two lost streets represents the revival of the neighborhood itself.
Innovation and connection are key attributes of this neighborhood. Local history buffs may be interested to know that, fittingly, the name “Hassalo” also pays tribute to a stern-wheeler that operated in the Columbia River in the late 1800s.
Parks and Recreation.
The neighborhood is your backyard for recreation: Nearby parks include Holladay Park, Buckman Field and Burnside Skate Park. Not to mention that the Hassalo Plaza itself features beautiful koi ponds and native plant gardens to enrich your life with nature in the city.
