Wading Pools in Velomor's Courtyard during Portland's hot July

Community Events at Hassalo

One thing folks touring Hassalo often notice are the Event Posters in our lobbies and elevators. At Hassalo on Eighth, we take socialization seriously. Every month, we host Happy Hour, rotating locations at each building’s amenity spaces. We also plan resident events every month, with a different theme and focus on local businesses to promote our very walkable neighborhood. Read on to see why our events set us apart from the rest!

Seasonal Specials

Portland is known for it’s unpredictable weather, and we plan accordingly. In the Winter, we host beer tastings on Aster’s 21st Floor, or bring in some complimentary comfort food. The summer is where we get to stretch out our legs and enjoy Hassalo’s many outdoor amenity spaces. From June through August, we host concerts in Hassalo Plaza every Wednesday at noon, with complimentary ice cream. We may not have a full pool on the property, but we improvise during the hottest months and turn Velomor’s Courtyard into a nostalgic pool party, with inflatable wading pools and refreshments. No matter the time of year, you won’t get bored here.

Local Flair

Keeping our community tight-knit is priority, so when we hire vendors for events, we hire locally. Some huge resident hits were Pips Donuts and Chai, Waffle Window, Fifty Licks Ice Cream and so many more. Our 2023 Annual Anniversary Party was themed ‘A Taste of Lloyd’ and featured several neighborhood restaurants and breweries for a tasting menu to encourage our residents to visit the amazing food and drink choices around Lloyd. Our Management Team is involved in the Lloyd Community Association and collaborates on events around the neighborhood with LCA and other community organizations like Lloyd Eco District, and G0 Lloyd.

Big Events and Big Fun

Sometimes, when the weather is nice we go a little out of the box and create an event that will be talked about for years to come. In 2023, we closed Hassalo street, which runs through the 3 buildings on the property, and hosted an outdoor movie in the Plaza. We stocked our Concessions tent with candy, kettle corn and drinks, and enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean as the sun set behind us.

We love to show our residents appreciation by planning and hosting community events, but there’s something much more priceless that comes out of it: seeing residents form and build new friendships. By gathering often, right at home, its hard not to make lasting relationships, and that’s what is hard to find elsewhere. Home and a sense of Community is likely here, and we hope to see more new faces every month!
